Head of Family Services
My name is Sandra Awuah and I joined the team at Dravet Syndrome UK in March 2025 as Head of Family Services.
With over a decade of experience as a Senior Social Worker in London, I have been dedicated to safeguarding and supporting children and families through some of the most challenging circumstances. I have extensive experience in complex court work, child protection, child in need, and referral and assessments, advocating for vulnerable children and their families to ensure they receive the right support at the right time.
I am committed to strengthening the charity’s ability to support families affected by Dravet Syndrome. My role focuses on driving forward DSUK’s key strategic objectives—‘Every Family Counts’ and ‘Empowerment of Families’—to ultimately improve outcomes for families by ensuring they have access to the right resources, guidance, and advocacy.
I’m excited to join Dravet Syndrome UK at such a significant time for the charity. Having worked closely with vulnerable families throughout my career, I understand the challenges they face when navigating complex health and social care systems. I’m looking forward to leading DSUK’s Family Services, working alongside families and professionals to ensure that no one affected by Dravet Syndrome feels alone in their journey.
