This year our DSUK Professional & Family Conference was held on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th November 2017 at the The Hilton Liverpool One, 3 Thomas Steers Way, Liverpool L1 8LW.
On Professional Day, we were delighted to welcome over 60 medical professionals from across the globe. On Family Day, we were joined by nearly 120 families with a combination of old and new faces alike.
Presentations were given across both days with talks covering many significant and relevant topics offered by some of the world’s leading experts in Dravet syndrome including Professor Helen Cross OBE, Professor Ingrid Scheffer (from Australia), Professor Lieven Lagae, Professor Sanjay Sisodiya, Professor Sameer Zuberi, Dr. Michelle Welborn (from the U.S.), Dr. Elaine Hughes as well as Epilepsy Nurse Neil Williamson.
On top of this we also ran three CPR sessions throughout Friday 17th training almost 20 people in this invaluable life-saving technique. We also took the opportunity to hold a ‘round table’ meeting with our medical professionals to instigate a consensus meeting and start a process to achieve agreement on the classification and diagnosis of Dravet syndrome.
The only event of its type in the UK, this was possibly our most successful conference yet and we would like to thank all of our speakers along with everyone who attended for making it such a fantastic weekend for all involved!
