Dr Elaine Hughes

Trustee

I am honoured to be joining Dravet Syndrome UK as a trustee after many years on the Medical Advisory Board. It’s a privilege to support families living with this complex condition, and I look forward to continuing to work with the charity to improve access to specialist care, information and support.

In October 2025 I retired from my role as Consultant Paediatric Neurologist at Evelina London Children’s Hospital and Kings College Hospital. During my career, I’ve been instrumental in transforming how children and young people with Dravet Syndrome receive care in the UK. As a longstanding advocate for families living with Dravet Syndrome, I’ve encouraged focus on the wider impact of the condition beyond seizures.

Through establishing the first specialist Dravet Syndrome clinic in the UK, I’ve led the way in a multidisciplinary approach to management which is a model for good practice.
