Amanda Tomalin recently retired as Paediatric Epilepsy Clinical Nurse Specialist at Evelina London Children’s Hospital (ELCH).
She worked as a Tertiary level Epilepsy Nurse Specialist within the Complex Epilepsy Team at Evelina London Children’s Hospital from the inception of the post in 2003 until her retirement. She also ran ELCH’s Vagal Nerve Stimulator service, in addition to supporting all children seen by the Complex Epilepsy Team. Amanda worked closely with fellow DSUK Medical Advisory Board member, Dr Elaine Hughes and together they set up Dravet Syndrome clinics to provide regular specialist support for families
Amanda was very involved in the RCPCH EQIP advisory team that supported epilepsy service teams across England and Wales to implement sustainable improvements for children and young people with epilepsy.
Amanda’s previous experience included paediatric neurology, paediatric oncology and a short time in general paediatrics. She is particularly passionate about supporting children and their families with chronic long-term health needs, especially those children with genetic epilepsies.
