Funding Medical Research
Funding medical research is central to our mission at DSUK. We believe there is an urgent need to increase understanding of the condition, improve its management, work towards better outcomes for those living with Dravet Syndrome and hopefully, one day, find a cure.
Our DSUK research fund receives at least 10% of our yearly income, in addition to specific donations and fundraising from our amazing supporters.
Our goal is to fund at least one research project a year, where possible. We work closely with our Professional Advisors and our research partners, including Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, the Dravet Syndrome European Federation, Epilepsy Action and the Epilepsy Society. Before receiving a grant, all potential projects go through a robust approval process, including peer review.
To date, DSUK has funded seven projects, investing more than £450,000 in pioneering research.
