Famour YouTuber KSI meeting fundraiser Mimi Ward

KSI thanks young fundraiser Mimi Ward on The One Show

The famous YouTuber and global superstar KSI made a special appearance on the BBC’s The One Show on Thursday 24th April to thank ten year-old Mimi Ward, the youngest girl ever to complete the London to Paris bike ride and raise almost £20,000 for Dravet Syndrome UK.

Mimi’s extraordinary journey cycling 286 miles (460km) in four days took place in October 2024 and was inspired by her eight year old cousin, Dominic, who is living with Dravet Syndrome, a devastating and complex form of epilepsy that occurs in 1 in 15,000 births in the UK.

The special One Big Thank You segment on The One Show saw Mimi fly a helicopter and land to a surprise visit from KSI who personally thanked her for her amazing achievement. The feature also included lots of other families living with Dravet Syndrome meeting Mimi and sharing their messages of how the money she has raised has helped to provide support to families affected by Dravet Syndrome.

Speaking on the motivation behind her epic challenge, Mimi said: “I wanted to do something to help Dom Dom and others like him who are living with Dravet Syndrome. I was nervous to complete the challenge but I’m so happy we raised so much money for the people who need it.”

On meeting KSI as part of her One Big Thank You, she said: “I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw KSI, I’m a massive fan of his and it was such an amazing surprise. I also loved meeting lots of other families living with Dravet Syndrome and hearing their lovely messages about how the funds raised have helped to provide more support”.

Mimi’s next challenge will be running at least 2K Every Day in May for Dravet as part of the challenge her Mum, Tamara Ward set up five years ago to raise funds for Dravet Syndrome UK. This year hundreds of people are taking part in the challenge which last year raised over £200,000 for Dravet Syndrome UK.

You can still donate to Mimi’s fundraising page.

"Dravet Syndrome UK is a small charity that provides a lifeline to families affected by this devastating condition. We are so grateful to Mimi and thrilled to see her incredible achievement celebrated on The One Show with the help of her hero KSI.

“A huge thank you to Mimi and everyone involved for helping raise awareness of Dravet Syndrome and the vital funds that enable us to continue our mission to bring hope to families through support, education and funding research.”
